A worthy rival to the next game on the list, Namco's early entry into the arcade market made it one of the most enjoyable and memorable of its era.

Unequivocally Atari's finest contribution to the arcade world. Sometimes simpler is better and in this case, Space Invaders executes flawlessly. 


7. Street Fighter

A cleaner-cut version of Mortal Combat but equally difficult, Street Fighter is one of Capcom's earliest success stories. It springboarded the developer's success in the decades to follow. 


6. NBA Jam

This game was essentially made for an arcade environment. Over the top animations and very few rules made this a wildly entertaining game that has stood the test of time. 


5. Mortal Combat

Considered edgy during its time because of violent gameplay and gory details, fighting your way to the top was never more rewarding. 


4. Donkey Kong

Mario's video game debut took place in this challenging adventure. Who would have thought an ape hurling barrels at an Italian plumber would be the start of a video game dynasty?

The quintessential game that pops in everyone's head when they think of arcade games. And yes, Lady Pac-Man is deserving of an honorable mention here.

As comical as the television series, Marge using a vacuum to fend off enemies is just a small example of the hilarity that is pervasive throughout this game.

Kowabunga! Punishing the foot, Bebop and Rocksteady, Krang, and eventually Shredder never felt so good! This Konami classic is the undisputed greatest Arcade game of all-time.
